Location: Burbank | Well, I finally got something I have been wanting for a while. Since 1537's are usually gone FAST or wind up way out my price range I decided to look for a 1718. I this morning picked up a beatiful tabacco sunburst 1718 in MINT prefect condition! I have only had a few minutes with it and will have to spend more quality time with it. The best part is no Ebay. I bought local and looked touched and listened before buying. I will report back on it later. |

I think my 1718 is my number 2 go to player after the 2080 and before the 1778T. I think they are magnificent instruments regardless of price, but especially because of price. Mine plays easy, has beautiful tone (26 year old top) and is a stinkin' canon. I have a 1758 too - they're the twins. Pretty cool looking to see them on stage side by side! :D Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Tuppy says the bursts sound better ... |

Location: Warren,Pa. | So the 1718 has a Rosewood fingerboard instead of Walnut (less cool but so what?), and I assume different electronics. Are those the only tangible differences?
I guess it has less snob appeal/collectability, but it must sound exactly like a 1537, ehh? |

Location: SoCal | 1537 also has real wood body binding, multi layer headstock and heel caps, and a better quality of wood on the top. As good as the 1718 sounds (and it's good), the 1537 tends to sound better by those who have compared them directly. |

Location: Burbank | Well, I finally got a couple of pictures of it and have a review. This thing sounded great when I bought it, but after I put new strings on it, it just exploded. This thing sounds soooo good and has tone to spare, I have a hard time believing that a 1537 sounds even better, but I've heard. Also in the archive there is a discussion about the differences between the 1718 and the 1537, and one mentioned is about the walnut veneer extending under the nut and partly under the first fret. As you can see in my picture the 1718 does as well. In summery, this is the best guitar I have ever owned!

Location: South of most, North of few | Mario, thats a beauty! I had one in natural finish, and it was a toss up between selling it or the Adamas. I know everyone thinks the 1537 sounds better, but I think you would have to have them in the same room at the same time to tell. Great guitar! |

Location: Burbank | Yes it is great to own one you really love. Yeah I saw the match to the 12 string. There is actually another 12 match out here for sale but I am tapped out. I need to sell something to get something. Oh well I am sure another will come along again. |
