Location: Buffalo,NY | Just recieved this Standard Balladeer LX (1771LX) guitar yesterday and I am very happy with it. Many of you have asked in a previous thread, about the gold tuners and pearloid tuning buttons. Questions were also asked about the gold Ovation headstock label. Here are the ebay pic's of the guitar:

I have asked the original owner about these questions and his reply was that the guitar is absolutely all original and exactly the way he recievd it from Ovation.
I can see from the Ovation website that this model should have chrome tuners and non-gold headstock label.

I am not expert enough to comment on these seeming discrepancies, so I will leave that up to you. My only comment is that my first experience in buying an Ovation, I ended up with a guitar that was mis-labeled at the factory as an LX model when it wasn't. Ovation admitted it was a mistake and send me a brand new LX model. So maybe it was just a factory mistake or, a part shortage where they substituted something to keep their delivery schedule to a specific customer??? I know I'm stretching here, but to be honest I kind of like the mystery and I really like the guitar I got for the money.
Regards,
Tom |

The modified CCB top (I own a CCB 1771LX and the color looks identical) says to me it's a custom. My opinion.
Either way, it's a beautiful and unique instrument, and congratulations on acquiring it! 1771LXs are the best bang-for-the-buck Ovation there is, IMHO.

Location: SoCal | The tuners were swapped out. It's a balladeer neck (rosewood fingerboard and balladeer inlays). A legend fingerboard is ebony.
Be happy that you got cosmetically nicer tuners and don't worry about it. |
