I had some time to kill before practice with BrianT. Walked into Guitar Center and there it was... right as you walk through the doors.
Fantasic tobacco burst... ON SALE for $1599.
Serial #67. Sales dude said they weren't supposed to get them until next month. I picked it up and plugged right in.

The Neck.... Wide.. kinda thick. Think Les Paul or UTE.

Comfort.... This thing is light. Very light and very, very comfortable. The contour work done on the back side is well thought out and makes a real difference.

Sound... I can't give you an informed opinion. I'm sure someone who knows what they are doing with an amp can make this thing do whatever they want. I don't plug in that often to know how to do that.

Sales Dude.... said. "This is much better than the Taylor T5".

What I did not like... That fishman bridge seems, well, utilitarian. Perhaps functional but IMO it might have looked better with some sort of chrome cover.
Fit & finsh was exceptional. EXCEPT... the knobs seem to be mounted pretty far away from the top. Far enough to see the silver jam nut and a number of threads on the stem. Maybe there is a functional reason for it but it just did not look right.

It's great to see the OVation headstock on an electric guitar again!!

So... Am I the first OFCer outside of Al, Bill & Matt to try one of these??

That means we'll get one in a few years.

Cool Brad! I might have to break down and actually walk into the local GC to check one out.

The neck is wide and kinda thick?
That may leave me out, then. I have very small female-folk hands, and the older-style Tornado and 1111-4 necks are the best size for me. I'm glad to hear that it isn't really heavy--that will be a big plus.
Oh, well; if and when I ever get one I suppose I could ask them to replicate Jazzey's neck for me. (And make it Autumn Burst to boot!)

Slip, Has any fretboard ever rivaled the deacon-breadwinner? A Parker-Fly maybe?... I don't know. After playing my Legend I almost struggle with the Deacon because it's 'too' easy...strange thing to say, I know...

Please take this in context, because I haven't played one or seen one in person. Maybe it's great. All I have to go on is a picture, so I'll just say I don't think it looks good. I know that's shallow.

Who's gonna transplant the guts into a deacon (or something else)? I thought about a UKII body, because I like that look, but I don't know if that could be routed if needed.

I'll stand by while somebody ponies up the $1600 and then tears up 2 guitars. Post pics.

Looks interesting. I've not played one. Maybe at the end of May when we're back norf.
All the prototypes I've seen had these wimpy little skinny necks. Then again, if it ain't half a Louisville slugger, it's too thin for me.
Karen, the ones I saw at the factory you'd like. I really doubt that this is 1 3/4 at the nut, has gotta be 1 11/16 unless it was a last minute switch.

It's amazing what a difference a dinky little sixteenth of an inch can make.

very true.
The string spacing will mess with you too, wider spacing will make you think it's bigger even if the nut is the same. Maybe this is going on here?
My favorite is 1 3/4 with 1 1/2 spacing.
