Hello. First post here:

I am looking for a breadwinner and have found this one on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/70s-Ovation-Breadwinner-73-75-RARE_W0QQitemZ1...

However, the pick ups on this one don't look like the humbuckers I have seen on pictures of the guitars I have searched out.

Can anybody advise me on this please?

Many thanks,

David.

Welcome David!

That one is a second stage early Breadwinner. It has the early pups and nylon bridge pieces but has the Battery Plate and Neck Plate that shows up on later models. Those are the larger sized Ovation Pups.

Very nice example!

Thank you guys so much! ...and you both seem to think it is a nice example too. I may just have to BIN!

I would have to more questions:

Is this a fair price?

Are there any preferences to early and later model pickups and bridge pieces?

Many thanks again...

David.

I agree, it's a very fair price for an early example in such good condition, especially with a brown case. Bear in mind you'll need to factor in around $100 to $120 or more for shipping plus around 23% of declareded value for VAT and import duty.

Nice catch. Hopefully when you get it you'll tell us we were right and give us a bollocking.
