Went to the show last night and was not disappointed. He was playing with his eletric band, though did a few acoustic/solo tunes...
I have seen nearly all the well-known, big name guitar players (save for Hendricks, who died before I was old enough to attend) and then some, at one time or another... and RT is without question one of the very best. At 57 he is better today than he's ever been and his electric playing is absolutely mind-boggling. What I saw last night was a blistering 2 hour rock and roll show, by one of the most seminal guitar players in the history of the instrument. If you just think "Folkie" when you hear RT's name mentioned, you are sorely mistaken... He'll peel your face off with screaming improvisational solo tirades and in the next breath, well-you-up with a lyrical and heartbreaking celtic acoustic solo.
Masterful. |

I missed him when he came to Greenville in April(?) but I'll be sure to catch him when he returns! |
