Slammin all-body band, out of Oakland. So some of you Kalifornyans can catch them when they get home. It would remind a Canadian of The Nylons redux and refreshed.

Los Rastrillos a Mexican Reggae-funk-Trad-+? band with a stage energy (which the attached video does not project) that can wear out your average audience.

LeRoy Bell & His Only Friends

Not to mention the evening headliners over three nights; Los Lobos, Joan Armatrading (who still plays an Ovation when the situation warrants), and Don McLean. (who, though not a riveting entertainer, is somehow spared my boredom with his major hit for the reason that it really does seem to come alive when sung....ad infinitum....by 8,000+/- people)

You also missed the chance to get up close and personal with the likes of John Boutte, The John Jorgenson Quintet (gypsy jazz in this incarnation), Guy Clark, Amos Garret & Geoff Muldaur. People you may never get a chance to hear like The Knotty Pines, Autorickshaw, The Highwater Jug Band. Sounds you may never find out if you like, hate, or don't care about like Inuit Throat singing, The Sarod.

Altogether, about forty plus acts playing on any of six stages over two and a half days. the event is so popular that major acts request to come back and some move here afterwards.

It's magic.

Even the kids chugging and chittering 'till the wee hours can't ruin it. (revenge story to come...)

Next month, Corb Lund & The Hurtin\' Albertans at The Waverly in Cumberland? (Word is, you should catch him before he drinks himself to death. It's a Warren Zevon kind of thing.....)

Just got home, a little road weary, and still in awe of what we saw... Hmmm a rhyme at this late time... no no someone stop me....

I'll try to write a review when I can think in semi-complete sentences again... till then I'll just "ditto" what Phil posted with a slight addition that I think that as outstanding as the entertainment is/was, the acts listed, only constitutes about 1/3 of the reasons that this may well be the 2nd event to cause use of the phrase...... "ya shudda been thar!!!!"

Two of my personal high/low lights of the weekend;

1- Telling everyone why I was late arriving at the campground. I mean, who slows and stops for a yellow light any more? Really!

So I rear ended a red 2007 Mustang. Bummer.

Guys gets out to talk to me, he's a dwarf.

"I'm not Happy", he says.

"So which one are you?" I ask.

2- I don't hear the all-night party because I wear earplugs at these things. For some bands, and at night. Plus, I'm a heavy sleeper.

Woke up one morning after a storm with a treetop through the bedroom window, glass and water everywhere. When I sleep, I SLEEP.

But Sunday night, they kept my wife awake and worried. Bother my wife and you're on the wrong side of me. (Other than that, it's hard to find)

But revenge is a dish best served cold and it's stupid to argue with drunks.

So....about 7:00AM when the offending children were dropping off to bed I took my chair and coffee into the sunshine. Which just happened to be 2' from a tent full of the party crowd.

My buddy Dave joins me and we start to review our favourite acts of the weekend. Chatting away in the friendly manner some people have who can 'do' morning. (not normally my best time of the day, save when motivated accordingly)(But Miles is worse. He needs coffee in order to get ready to make coffee!)

Voice from the tent, "Hey! Y'know there's people trying to sleep here!!?"

Me, "Ah, yeah. I guess. But the sun's over here and I'm looking for the warm." We continue talking.

Two girls emerge, "We're trying to sleep here! You're just trying to piss us off 'cause of last night aren't you?"

In my sweetest smile; "Is it working?"

(Note: only one of the preceding tales is actually true, though both were told.)

Jeff, if you came I'd build an extra tipi just for you next year! (Government regulations. All non-native animals must be kept in separate containment.)

Your pen is waiting.
(And I think we could put the Treb. to good use at night.... How far can you accurately fling a 4lb. bag of poo?)

I think we can reasonably expect to fling a 4lb. bag of poo 300 feet with a great deal of accuracy.

(I understand about the Government regulations... I was actually ordered to leave Canada, or be taken in to custody for deportation, back in the 90's. Which explains the old adage, "I would not want to be a member of any club that would have me")

Having owned a pet store in a previous career, I am licensed to import rare, endangered, and vicious species. I'll send the paperwork and crate, you're in no problem....

...unfortunately you probably won't be able to bring the treb across the border. I don't think your people would support the export of weapons for which certain people in high places were not getting a piece of the action. Fortunately we have wood, wheels, and a number of other raw ingredients we have not yet exported.

Never heard of them Prof.....but I've only been going for 5 of the 15 years this things been growing.
