Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I saw one of them on e-Baal, complete with a nifty video on how it worked. Then I couldn't find it again. But as I remember it looked cool. But I didn't get one. I bought a Celebrity with a tuner instead.
But that would be totally cooler if you could get a smaller "tuner-knob-holder" so you could use it on a 12-stringer... Now THAT would be worth some money.
Oh, upon looking at it, I guess it only works with an electric plug-in...

Location: south east Michigan | Looks like it's more complicated than what it's worth.
Get it out... plug it in... fiddle with it on the headstock... etc. And with a mechanical connection with the tuners I wonder about accuracy. Nothing can beat the engineering wonder of human touch and hearing.
BTW... Why didn't Ovation put an onboard tuner on the VXT??? |

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Here is my tuner: it only cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 grand: works perfectly; plugged in or not, and came with a free top of the line Adamas guitar attached! What a bargin!

Location: Japan | I suppose someday they'll have built in tuning via servo actuated tuners which could allow you to choose standard or any range of user selected open tunings.
With proper programming it could be designed to always bring the string up to pitch, even when tuning down.
I'd really love to turn down the volume and hit an auto-tune button while talking to the audience! |

Location: NJ | Jimmy Page has a servo-controlled tuner built into one of his LP's. Has a bunch of pre-set pushbuttons for open tunings. I'll bet THAT guitar is light as a feather!! . . . :rolleyes:
At gigs, I just use a Boss TU2 as a reference, at home, I use my ears. |

Location: Omaha, NE | A better strategy is what Fender is doing with the new VG Stratocaster . All the tuning is digitally modified, so you can (for example) switch from standard to drop-D tuning with the turn of one switch.
That's pretty cool, but obviously only useful on electrics. |
