Do any of you guys live in that part of the country, or is everyone centered around Paris? I will have the weekend in between free and will probably have some time between flights coming and going in Paris. I have to switch airports and have at least a five hour layover. If anyone is interested, or available, let me know. I would also welcome any advice from anyone who has travelled to France - things to do, do's and don'ts, etc. This is obviously my first trip there. Cordialement, Mike

The first layover, I'd get a cab from the airport and go to the eifell (sp) tower. Second layover, I'd make my way to Notre Dame and do a quick walk through, depending on time, walk along the seine, and then depending on the time, up to Jardin Luxembourg and grab a sandwich and look at the people. That should be enough, enjoy!

'Course this is all touristy stuff but the first couple of times you're over there, you gotta get these out of the way. Then let Jerome, Tom and the French contingent show you the real France.

Not far away from the Moulin rouge, there is a street called "rue de Douai", the street is full of guitar shops. Nice place. Tom

Palace Elysse and Montmartre with impressive Sacre-Ceur church, and - if you will have at least 6 hours - Luvre. In Paris You shouldn't experience any problems with communication with people in english. I wouldn't eat at McDonalds anywhere in France because of fatal sanitary conditions.

This is 4.5 to 5 hrs from Paris by ''slow'' train, but only 2.5 hrs by TGV (Train Grande Vitesse) to Strasbourg. Jerome (OFC member Paulmac) is located in Paris, perhaps he could help you. If weather is nice, you can also make a nice ''promenade'' by boat on the ''canal Saint martin'' in Paris, some sections are in open air and others underground. For your information, Jean-Luc Thievent from Montreal Canada, who is a fine finger-picking player -he plays Ovation and Adamas guitars- will come in France first days of October. He will be in Alsace the 12th of October (too late for you?) for a show. Tom_CA can give you more details. Have a nice trip in France.
