Hello guys,

I'm so happy to share these pics with you: ADAMAS "LILAS"
That slothead was custom built for Marcel in the late 70's but unfortunately, I don't know the model number and the serial!!
I must say that Tom had it in hands last year but he was so impressed that he forgot to look inside the guitar for reading the label... :D

That guitar is very popular in France and we were waiting since more than 10 years for good pics.

I hope you will enjoy to look at that beauty.

J :)

Jerome, thanks for sharing. As it has the old-style knobs (no figures) I'm quite sure the serial # is lower than 1000. That's in conformance with your dating ("late 70's"). It's custom made for Marcel so model # 1689 is a must.

This proves that Tom is not French - he is holding a guitar without wearing a thumbpick. :p :D

It used old parts but is probably newer than we'd guess. Knobs don't mean much, the eppis are a better indication. They used one of the old necks for it, definately a wide neck.

Marcel was playing that guitar on stage in november 1979 at the "Palais des Glaces" in Paris so I assume it was built in the late 70's.
It belongs now to a french collector who lives in east of France (near Tom's house).
I'm sure that Remy has played it in the past and maybe he will be able to tell us more...

You are right Jerome, I played on it years ago, (the first time was 1981 with Marcel in Angers and the last 1991 in Issoudun) and a friend of mine bought it to Marcel around 1985. I just know that tuners are not the original but were changed, so don't care about tuners. This 1689 guitar is a beauty and for me the best of Marcel's guitar (except perhaps the #37 but I never heard or played it). Somebody said that it was the sister of my adamas, my adamas is #519 and 1978, I think Lilas came in 1979 ? Tom for the next : the label !!! Marcel : peace !!! Jerome : thanks for sharing !!!
