I've just checked and realised I said G'day when you first arrived and that you're in Brisbane....but welcome again anyway. My memory problems can sometimes get me into trouble. Enjoy the guitar :)

Hey Hero - I guess that is the O on the Bay from Perth....I've been watching that auction with great interest.

Did you make the winning bid? Looks like a great guitar.

My maths aren't that great but the Aussie dollar is riding pretty high at the moment. Today one Australian dollar is worth about 89 US cents. It's early in the morning here so I can't be bothered working that out.

As of this moment (or a few seconds ago), AUD1725 = USD1520.76.

Bad luck.....I watched the last few minutes of the auction (late for my Tuesday night coffee shop show as a result :) ) and yes, noted the spirited bidding activity in the last few seconds.

Not the last O in the world, though....and with the strength of the AUD vs the greenback at the moment, it has never been better buying in the USA, as long as you can get good freight costs on the return leg. Fair dinkum, Aussie O prices make me cry.....

Honest question....why do you think this one sold for $1500ish in USD when my (quite frankly) nicer 12 string GC Model 1618 is not sold yet for $820? Are the 6 strings more valuable?

There are two possible reasons for this guitar going for so much money in Australia. First, because of the high cost of importing US products into Australia, every costs more over there. The second reason could be that somebody just paid one helluva a lot of money for an unknown reason.

Maybe both....
