| I had a Balladeer 1111-1 WITH a pickup.
It ran through an external preamp - just having a single volume control on the guitar itself.
Everything I read says this model did not come with a pickup but I have seen one for sale recently as well.
Can anyone enlighten me on this
Thanks |

Location: CT | Hi Andy, welcome! The 1111 did not come with a pickup. The 1611 is the 'electrified' version, with an internal preamp. Sounds like your guitar had a pickup added at some point. Ovation didn't make guitars that required external preamps. |

Location: Scotland | Early Balladeers were never issued with pickups. The nearest would be model 1612 Custom Balladeer. Using the original 4 digit model code the second digit indicates acoustic or electric-acoustic, with "1" being acoustic-only and "6" indicating electronics. So, your 1111, left the factory as an acoustic-only and any pickup will be an after-market addition. |
