It had been left in guitar hell for about 8 years,a flooded basement, After which it spent about 8 wks at the local luthiers in various clamps. It didn,t play all that bad, but the owner called it "his finger exerciser". I noticed that the action was really high at the 12th fret.He wanted to know if the cost of sending back to the factory was worth the price of the guitar.I did sugggest that he try an "o"cause it playes like an electric( note: he does play bass,, but is pretty good on a six string)Any comments?

I'm not a Gibson fan, but it was a nice looking guitar.Anybody have a idea what this might cost? Just a ball park figure. (Jim,could I offer to sell him the 1614 or the ute? :D )

Second, if you really want it fixed find a good repair guy to do it. Third, he should really get a better guitar, I never liked Hummers, or doves or any of those. Some of the prewars are nice but few and far between. Fourth, go hang the guitar in the back yard and fill it up with sugar water and let it be a feeder for hummingbirds.

Most of the early British stuff, including the Beatles, and Stones albums, were all done on Gibson acoustics. Many of us grew up on that sound. If the action on your Hummingbird is the only problem, bring it to a quality repair guy. IF you get that guitar set up right, it will be well worth it.
