Joined: December 2006 Posts: 5 Location: Sunny California, so O.C | I snooped around in the forums to see if I could find an answer to this issue that seems to be plaguing me since I purchased my C2079 with the studio preamp and didn't see anything that might help. So here's my issue.... Something keeps causing the battery light to come on this studio preamp (and before you say "change the battery stupid") We are talking about fresh brand new copper tops or energizers here. The first time it started it seem to affect the compressor effects on it so I took it in for testing and repairs. The guy spoke with ovation and basically just ordered another preamp for it. Then it happened a month later and we got another preamp and now I'm on my third trip to the repair man who will most likely get me a third preamp. p.s. this is all within 1 year Has anyone had trouble like this with the studio preamps? If so, please advise. Thanks

So we'll let the trouble shoot begin.... Is the battery light blinking, or does it just turn on and stay on? Do you have it plugged in when this happens? is this is a consistent, or intermittent problem? Did the repair guy replace the "can", or just the pre-amp itself? My suggestion would be to get in touch with John or Kim at the factory, explain the problem, and have them send you a complete electronics package. That way your repair guy can figure out which component is causing the problem, or just replace everything (can, cables, jack-board). BTW, unless you are a tool-less animal without opposable thumbs or the ablilty to remeber "righty-tighty, lefty-loosey", you can do this your self. Or, there are several of us in OC that would be glad to "help" i.e.come over, fix your guitar, jam with you, eat your food, drink whatever you are serving, clean up than leave.

Joined: December 2006 Posts: 5 Location: Sunny California, so O.C | thanks for posting the help, and offering to come eat all my food, and clean up of course.... :p To answer your questions... -the battery light does not blink, it just stays on. -the light stays on whether or not it is plugged in. -it is a consistent problem, not intermittent. -I'm not sure if the "authorized" repair shop replaced the can or just the preamp. I believe at this point, they have done both. He did mention last time that he had requested the "electronics package" from ovation last time but they decided against it and just sent another preamp again. Question: Who are John and Kim at the factory and how do I get a hold of them? Thanks again for the help,

I really hate to have to put this thing in the shop again for another 4 to 5 weeks. I think this thing has seen more shop time than playing time since I bought it.

I'd ask for a complete kit (just in case the bad component fried the new pre-amp) or send it back to the mothership your self. Let us know if you need a loaner. When are we gonna get together and play?

The dealer where I purchased it has instructed me to go through one of the local "authorized ovation repair shops" only, because it's still under warranty. what say ye? also, don't know when we can jam together and eat all my food, but how often do you ride and where? thanks again for all the info

You have to obtain an RG# from Customer Service first. email, John.Budny@Kaman.com Explain the problem and what has been done so far. Also provide the following: Model Color Serial Number Factory Case (yes or no) Your Shipping address Contact phone# If they'll just send you a new preamp, "can", and jack-board/harness, Fred or I will install it and make it work. Where are you located?

Joined: December 2006 Posts: 5 Location: Sunny California, so O.C | Thanks heaps guys I'll do that as soon as I get the time. This whole posting has helped me out huge. :) I'll let you guys know if and when I get a hold of John and what he decides to send me; and whether or not I'll need some help R&R'ing it. I'm in San Clemente, deep in the south of O.C. Where are you guy located? I ride a little (1 or 2 times a week) sometimes more sometimes less depending on what the surf is doing. :D I mostly just go up the back hills behind my house. Nothing real hard core, mostly just trying to keep up on some form of cardio for my bod. :p thanks again and I'll be in touch
