Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Mike Walter, CapoMike, one of our oldest Ovation Fan Club members and friends, passed away last night at his home in Sevierville, TN. after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family and was holding his daughter's hand when he died. Mike and his wife Kathy were long time friends of Violetta and mine and we will miss the times we would gather at a Gatlinburg restaurant for a wonderful meal out and lots of laughs and fun. Mike had worked at Dollywood for years as a wandering musician and storyteller and also traveled to area nursing homes to share Gospel songs and elicit smiles from the residents and staff alike. Mike Walter will definitely be missed. Please keep his wife Kathy and their family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. RIP Mike, Thanks for your friendship and thanks for the Music! |

When musicians pass on they take the talent with them, but, fortunately, their music itself remains with us.. so every time you play what he would play he's right there in your arms and hands. |

| Another thread that I would never have read. This is always sad news, very sad. My thoughts go to his family and to Mike of course. Rest in peace. |
