Location: Pewaukee, WI | I've been more comfortable ordering used Ovations from Guitar Center (rather than Reverb, eBay, MusicGoRound (although local guitars that I can see in person are good candidates) due to their return policy. I've had some guitars arrive in poorer condition than advertised, or with really high action that's not correctable through easy adjustments (truss rod adjustment, shim removal).
But recently I've had some good luck:
A 2003 6751-CCB Op30 with a 9158 case with good action (and brand new strings installed)
A 2004 1771LX-Ruby Red with Op-Pro and original case - had high action but removed both shims and it's nice now
Both were in the $400 range +/-, no cracks or scratches

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | I had some good experiences and bad ones from GC. I still look now and again, even though my guitar budget has turned to dust. I've always liked the 2005 Collectors. A very elegant appearance and excellent sound! Congrats on the find! |
