Just curious on thoughts on these 2 guitars. I know there are much nicer ones available, but for the amount I play & the fact that I only play for my own personal enjoyment I just can't see spending so much money on it. What are the main differences between the celebrity & the celebrity deluxe? I do not want one with a shallow body, I don't like those at all, so if that's the only option they come in can someone let me know so I can take it off my wanted list. :) I really like the natural finish for thess guitars.
But I still plan to keep the celebrity I already have, don't think I could ever part with it & I don't see anything wrong with having 2 guitars. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | No really... I have a CC44 in Natural wood color. Both of these are Mid-Depth Bowls, which is not quite as deep as a Deep Bowl, but it is Far from a Super-Shallow bowl.
It is closer to a Deep Bowl than it is to a shallow bowl... :confused: (Yeah, I know)
But the CSE44 has a SOLID top, whereas the the CC44 has Laminate (Plywood).
Also, My CC44 (and that one) has an OP4BT pre-amp, which has EQ and a Tuner, but nothing else.
The CSE44 has an OP30, which has Pre-Shape, Mid-Shift, and EQ in/out. All of which are very handy when plugged-in.
Also that Honey Burst is real Purdy. I wanted that for my CC44, but my seller didn't offer it. (but he did give me a case and free shipping)
I'm not sure GC gives you a case with their Celebrity's, cuz they are jerks. So I would check.
All in All, the CSE44 is a better guitar. ($200 better) But I would search for a better deal if you are getting it online. If you are going down to a brick-and-mortar store, I would try to talk them down, or at least get a free case.
Having said all that, I expect someone to tell you that you can get a used LX on eBlah for $600 if you wait long enough.
Or Better Yet! Some kind soul may see this and offer you a cool deal here! |

I'd say, hang around here 'till US tax time and see what comes available on the 'For Sale Forum'. |

Location: kansas | I have an Applause AE48 which I modified with a bone nut and a tusq bridge(the original hardware was plastic). Elixor strings helped, too. This made this guitar sound and play much better. However, I have been considering moving up to an Ovation. I tried an AE44 and noted that the neck was better(easier fretting & added note sustain), though the sound was not quite as 'good'(tone & volume) as my souped up AE48. Then I tried a CSE44 and it had superior tone and playability... I even tried the US version of the CSE44 and only noticed a small playing improvement(though the price was quite a bit more). I'm saving up my pennies to get the CSE44 & a case. I pretty much play music for fun(unplugged), and playing on a better guitar should make it more fun. |

Location: Southern California | Thanks for all the opinions, especially to Kevin, that is good to know. I think I'll go for the CSE44 then. I gotta work some overtime to pay for it & I'm not sure where I'll buy from, guitar center only if no one else has it available though.
And I definitely want a case for it, guitar center online doesn't tell me which case fits it though............... |

Oh, and FishChick, a whole lot of people have Celebrity's besides GC. And I'm guessing that there are other store in Southern CA.

Second, buy the best guitar you can afford, you will be happier and play more often. As a side note, if you like a cheaper one then buy that one.
Third, I believe that the celebrity deluxe has more bling to it, but if you play one you'll really know.
Maybe if you told us what big town you're near one of us could direct you to a local guitar store. |

I so Agree with these gents (which does not happen very often),Assessing the situation that you find yourself in,we see that you`ve got a Fine guitar allready,a difference of a couple a`hundred dollars in that range would be only cosmetic,..quality-wise it would be very little (if any?!),the advice given, is Wise (for once!),practice patience ,and Thou might be Rewarded ,..Good Luck :)

Location: Southern California | I'm near Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, Chino Hills, Corona, & Riverside.
I know there's a store called the music maker in Yorba Linda that my husband has bought a violin & clarinet at that he likes & they do sell ovations there. I am planning to stop by there, but I'm sure there must be other local guitar shops around here.
I used to live in Covina & loved the Fret House there. |

Instead of getting a new Celebrity Deluxe, have you thought about getting a used Elite T? The money would be about the same. |

Well I started out borrowing my brother's nylon string acoustis, then bought myself a super junkie cheap electric from Sears (what was I thinking? I was 14 & intimidated by real guitar shops & couldn't afford much) then later got the applause & then traded the applause for the celebrity I currently own. My brother still has the junkie electric (he likes it for some reason), so I am left with only one, but I've always wanted one of the ovations with the several little soundholes instead of one big one (don't know what the name of that is............). |

I have always wanted an ovation with all the little soundholes instead of one big one (sorry, I don't know what that is called, I'm sure there is a name for it), so that's what I'm looking for specifically, not just any random guitar, but I will definitely buy it in person & play it before buying it. |

I hope there's nothing wrong with having more than one guitar. I have a whole 3 now that I got "Pace". One's just not an Ovation.

Location: CT | Just because its new, doesn't mean it's not going to need a setup or something. Lots of guitars hanging in G.C. or Sam Ash have horrible action and rusty strings. A lightly used USA Elite for the same price makes more sense to me. |

Location: Southern California | Actually I've changed my mind. But thanks for all the input anyways. I can't find an ovation that has a deep body & the little soundholes that fits my budget & the more I think about it if I get a second guitar I'd really like it to be a nylon string guitar. So I think when I'm ready to buy I'll be looking around for a nylon. I first learned on nylon & I do love the classical flamenco style guitar on nylon. If I was to get a third guitar it'd probably be a Les Paul..............but I'm not planning that yet......... |
