Location: South of most, North of few | Some silk and steels on the 1537, and am favorably impressed. Not as mellow as I thought they would be. Very nice sound. Balanced, with nice highs and VERY robust lows. I know strings are a subjective thing, but these sound very nice to me. I bought them for the UTE, but since it's gone to povation, thought I'd try them on another model. I think I'll try them on the 1614 when it gets home too. Anybody else try these on a wood top? |

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | Silk & Steel`s...Hmm..I have `em on my ZEPEDA,which has a Cedar Top,it`s a handmade guitar ,has No trussrod, when I got it,at first I put 12-54`s on it,within a couple a month`s, the neck started to lift,so I looked around for strings that would exert less "pull" on the neck, yet would still sound "round and full"..I looked at D`add`s site, and discovered that S & S strings have a torque only a little higher than Nylon`s,since then it`s been a couple a years ,the neck has resumed it`s correct position, and my Zepeda has never sounded better,..Imagine a steel string guitar, with a sound akin to a Classical...I thought that D`add` had actually made them for classical`s..my 1537 has a rather thick top with Adamas bracing,so I figured them S&S strings would be too light ..I usually have gauge 13-57 on that one..now your 1537 does not sound very loud with those,..or..?.. :)

I've used them on my 97 Collectors. They worked really well. Did not last as long as Phosphor Bronze. |
