Yep. The man's got a way with words.

The Mississippi Delta was shining
Like a National guitar
I am following the river
Down the highway
Through the cradle of the civil war
I'm going to Graceland
Graceland
In Memphis Tennessee
I'm going to Graceland
Poorboys and Pilgrims with families
And we are going to Graceland

But then there's...

It was Christmas in prison and the food was real good
We had turkey and pistols carved out of wood
And I dream of her always even when I don't dream
Her name's on my toung, her blood's in my stream

Ever since the dog got drunk and died
and Mama went to prison..
There ain't nothing round this farm
that's been the same..
And you know, when Mom
broke out last Xmas
She drove the goddamned getaway laundry truck
right into a train......

They all asked about you
Down on the farm
The cows asked, the pigs asked
The horses asked, too
All wanna know why to the city you moved,
Changed your name to Kitty
What's come over you?

And when God gave out rhythm
He sure was good to you.
You can add, subtract, multiply and divide...
By two.

I know today's your birthday,
And I did not buy no rose.
But I wrote this song instead and I call it,
"Popsicle Toes".

Popsicle toes.
Popsicle toes are always froze.
Popsicle toes.
You're so brave to expose all those popsicle toes.

You must have been Miss Pennsylvania
With all this pulchritude.
How come you always load your Pentax
When I'm in the nude?

We oughta have a birthday party,
And you can wear you birthday clothes
We can hit the floor
And go explore those
Popsicle toes.

You got the nicest North America
This sailor ever saw.
I'd like to feel your warm Brazil
And touch your Panama

But Your Tierra del Fuegos
Are nearly always froze.
We gotta see saw
until we unthaw those
Popsicle toes.

Popsicle toes.
Popsicle toes are always froze.
Popsicle toes.
You're so brave to expose all those popsicle toes

I bought a flat
Diminished responsibility
You're de ninth person to see
To be suspended in a seventh
Major catastrophe
It's a minor point but gee
Augmented by the sharpness of your
See what I'm going through
Eh, to be with you
In a flat by the sea

my mom woke me up early, said
"look what your friends did to my front yard"
it was me and my sisters, out my window
there it was, there baby, you peed my name in the snow

I never wanted anything

Being from Mississippi, you wouldn't appreciate just how much skill that really takes.

There's a Canadian joke (maybe it's been translated for the northern states too) about Trudeau waking up and finding "Trudeau is an ass!" peed in the snow outside his bedroom window. He has the RCMP investigate the incident.

The head of the RCMP reports back in three days, "Mr Prime Minister, after DNA analysis we have determined that the urine in the snow writing belongs to the leader opposition, Joe Clark."

"Why that's disgusting!" says Trudeau. "something I would expect maybe from a street hooligan, not the leader of a respected national political party."

"It's worse than that Mr. Prime Minister." continues the chief. "The message is in Margarets handwriting."

I got no regrets with my life,
Just some things I haven't done,
But I guess the way things are now,
They'll have to stay undone,
Cause Daddy's eyes, are going blind
And they used to, see just fine.

If you waste your time talking to the people who don't listen
To the things that you are saying, who do you think's gonna hear.
And if you should die explaining how the things that they complain about
Are things they should be changing, who do you think's gonna care.

There were other lonely singers in a world turned deaf and blind
Who were crucified for what they tried to show.
And their voices have been scattered by this world and winds of time,
Cause the truth remains that no one wants to know. - K. Kristofferson
