Joined: June 2020 Posts: 111 | Hi It is a nylon strung guitar, 12 frets and no electronics, so I assume it is something in the 11xx series. My concern is about the extra fret we usually see in the 1113 and 1116. The only nylon I am aware of without the extra fret is the 1624, but it has 14 frets. Any clue about this Ovation? The photo has been taken in the early 1980s. Maybe it's 1122 Classic Balladeer.

Just looked at the second 1972 catalog (there were two that year). The 1123 was introduced in the second catalog, and the model pictured does not have the extra fret. However, in the appendix it states the 1122 has 18 frets and the 1123 has 19 frets. Edited by bobfrith 2022-06-20 9:03 PM

Thank you so much for this information! I didn't think of looking at the catalogues. Looking at the description in the '72 catalogue, I think the tuners in the picture I posted are the Deluxe Classic Chrome and not the Standard Classic, so I think it is an 1123. I count 18 frets in the picture, but it is not on focus so I may be wrong. The tuners, on the other side, look quite clear to me, so yes, I'd say 1123. Thanks a lot!
