Joined: June 2002 Posts: 6201 Location: Phoenix AZ | For Sale: 1968 Deluxe Balladeer Shiny Bowl s/n A-042 in SUNBURST !!! I've seen exactly TWO sunburst finished original shiny bowl guitars in the past 50 years and this is ONE of them. The Deluxe Balladeer Shiny Bowl is already a legendary guitar in Ovations history and the rarity of this SUNBURST version just takes it to another level. This isn't a refinish or reissue or anything like that ... this the real deal SUNBURST SHINY BOWL. Plays and sounds wonderfully just like these old Shiny Bowls do. No neck set issues, sinking soundboard or anything like that. Setup is perfect. There are a few cosmetic issues noted below but that's of really no significance for such an historic instrument. Comes with the original blue lined case which pre-dated the molded ones. DELUXE BALLADEER SHINY BOWL o serial number A-042, made in 1968 o deep molded shiny finished bowl o spruce top finished in Sunburst o X braced (yes the bracing pattern is visible in the burst paint) o Original style Rosewood 5 point bridge o Ebony fretboard with very minimal fret wear o 5 piece mahogany/maple neck o original chrome GROVER tuners, no tarnish o well preserved Ovation and Deluxe logos on headstock o original blue lined case, well used bu functional $550 USD includes FREE shipping within the 48 US States PM if interested or if you have questions ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() THANKS FOR LOOKING

One of the latches is missing. I would recommend getting a modern molded type Ovation case and give this unique guitar the protection it deserves. ![]()

A previous owner (original owner?) wrote his NAME on the label in pen. Nice job, William Sanders. 2. There is a lacquer crack running from the bridge to the tail of the guitar. Unfortunately on Sunburst finish this really stands out worse than it is. 3. A very tiny scuff/ding on the edge of the headstock 4. Very small black ding mark on bowl about 1/4 inch size 5. 2 very small scratch marks on the front near the edge binding 6. Original inlayed rosette disintegrated and the bonded on type was installed to cover the damage but some small edge marks around the rosette are visible. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() THANKS Edited by Standingovation 2021-12-07 6:25 PM
