You won't believe this. I've read recent posts on Fed-ex and UPS, this one takes the cake.

I delivered my Ovation to the fedex office for delivery to he Mothership, in CONNETICUT on Monday Sept 10. She said it would be $23 one way which seemed very reasonable and happily paid in full. On Friday Sept 14, I get a call saying my guitar was still in Canada and I needed to pay $22 more for brokerage. "Not fair" I argued saying I thought we had an agreement and why is this the first I'm hearing of this fee? As far as I was concerned it should be delivered as agreed. I got the answer "you should have read the fine print on the back of the contract." Talk about holding me hostage!

After some bickering I discovered that this fee is waived on items valued under $200, so I resubmitted the paperwork and the next day my guitar was happily on route to CT, or so I thought.

I thought it odd to see my guitar go from Buffalo NY to Ohio, but I'm not in the courier business so what the heck do I know. Last night was even more disconcerning when my guitar made it to Chicago, and now this morning I see my guitar finally "on truck for delivery" in Waterloo, IA, which I believe is Indiana.

I don't want to think the worst, but someone in Indiana may end up with a good Ovation that needs a bit of work and a pick-up installed.

My guitar is doing a tour of the Midwest without me, and it really SUCKS.

IA is Iowa. I've got a father in law just south of there in Cedar Rapids who might be able to help if your guitar gets stuck there. He brokered a guitar deal for me once and he might have some time.

It happens every once in awhile. It's a tour without shows. They'll likely relabel it, as whatever is getting scanned is routing it wrongly.

If it's not a Priority shipment, it's sometimes not about the most direct route but filling trailers as they're being jockeyed-around . . .

Thanks for the offer Mark, hopefully won't need the help from your father in law. We'll see.

What I believe is going on here as Paul suggests is a mislabelled shipment. Call me paranoid, but I believe this was intentionally done by the clerk I dealt with. He was a real SOB to me on the phone when I insisted that I wasn't going to pay for something I hadn't agreed to.

Its just too big a coincidence that this misdirected shipment happens after I had it out with a clerk who was simply rude to me on the phone.

All I really want is for the guitar to arrive safe and sound.

Since I download and print my own FedEx labels, I'll remember this next time I'm rude to myself!

Since we moved here from Iowa, we've had several mixups with other I states. Like 2 suitcases on 2 separate trips ending up in Indiana.
Fortunately, Senator Craig has give Idaho the recognition it deserves, except most people just remember that the bathroom was in Minneapolis. Most people don't know that that means it was in Minnesota.

What happens in Idaho, stays in Idaho; right?

Unfortunately not, Paul. He probably couldn't find an appropriate bathroom in Idaho, however.
