But, my five year plan to retire to a 40' sailboat in the Caribbean always seems to be five years away. I am aligned to your sentiment on the Gubernatorial diktats. Funny how this (at least in Michiganistan) has moved from "flatten the curve to avoid overwhelming the health care system" to "we need to make sure nobody else ever gets infected". One of those two things is rational, one is impossible barring genocide. I've actually transitioned from guitar to bass lately. Just took delivery of a Warwick Corvette fretless last week, bringing my bass collection to three. Having a blast (read: am incredibly frustrated) tuning up my ear. :S

Just a nagging cough, so they tested her when she went in for her annual woman thing, and sure enough, positive. Anyway, when I heard about it and called to check on her she was outside washing her car.. far, far from "sick". A doctor friend told me that many viruses behave like this one. Not all that uncommon. His analogy was that they are often like round pegs out looking for round holes. When it finds one, they go down hard. But when it finds an oval hole, not so bad. And the square hole people who get it never much notice the difference. Then he went on to mentions something about this one happening during an election year.

So, there's that. I like your "always a silver lining" thinking!

StephenT's band is playing its first real gig in a while next weekend. As an HR director by day - on the hiring end of things....all is online...but security fingerprinting has been a challenge. Playing wise - probably done more studio type work these past two months than I have done since the 80s. The necessity the mother of invention stuff. When it calls for it - I still use the round backs, one made in the 70s, one made about the re-opening, and one in the dreaded Fender years. Since it is Memorial Day - I have been thinking about getting Patriot or one of the Flag Guitars, just because. Hmm, time to search Reverb, the 'bay, and Craig's list. Also the strangest car-buying experience ever. No problem with social distancing because no one was around. The salesman wore a mask and gloves, we signed the papers with different sanitized pens and he stood outside while he explained the car's features. At least we had 700 miles to figure it out. I wish I'd have thought about playing the Patriot on Memorial Day. Today will have to do. The 4 siblings and I just finished a Facebook Messenger chat with Dad for his 93rd birthday. Strange. We were the last ones to figure out how to get on. His independent living center was nice enough to set him up with a camera. He needs to quit giving them so much crap about being in quarantine. They've had 4 positive cases in the building and he bitches about their authority to impose a quarantine.

No other customers in the showroom that we saw, and all the staff were wearing masks inside. Colorado is still pretty locked down, much more so than Utah where things are pretty much normal except more space between restaurant tables. Dunno why Denver is selling so many cars to out-of-staters. Must be they are the only ones willing to come down below MSRP. They couldn't have made it easier for us to buy from them. Now we're waiting on delivery of a guitar cabinet (with built in humidifier), but due to Covid restrictions at the time of shipment, the delivery service won't bring it inside. We have to hire an independent moving company to haul it up the stairs. Covid has made it a strange world.

I sat off to the side of where the people were lined-up on the markers 6ft apart. It was a sunny day and I got to go out an enjoy it for a little while. Meanwhile... I am expecting a sudden increase in the number of Covid-19 in about ten days. (Marchers heading downtown around 6PM today)

We pulled over in a little town in central Idaho. Both McDonalds and Burger King were under construction, so we stopped at a Maverick. Lots of people without masks, acting like they didn't know about COVID. I parked with an empty spot on both sides and when we came out people had squeezed in on both sides. COVID has decreased significantly in most of Idaho, but increased dramatically in the small towns like the one we stopped in. Of course, when I washed the car it had a ding on the left side.

We still have US Soldiers dying in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan. Just because it ain't in the top of News Cycle does not mean it isn't happening. Everyone Stay Safe.

I lost two friends to the virus in two separate states. I had a bout myself which was thankfully mildish. We lost 12 residents in our assisted living facility in my small midwest city. Spread like wildfire. Had an older gentleman in Kroger the other day say as I passed... "you liberals with your stupid masks". I stopped and politely told him I was not wearing a mask because some imbecile politician told me to.... I was wearing a mask because a doctor told me to. And, I apologize Paul M for not getting back to you. Your thoughts and prayers meant a great deal. I just needed to unplug for a while. Peace my friends.
