Location: chattanooga | Hello all. I haven't been on this site in a long while and posted this in the wrong area yesterday. Thought I'd try again here. I just picked up a gorgeous Adamas W597 with the VIP preamp system. Everything seems to be in great working order but when I plugged a mic cable into the xlr input and ran that to an acoustic amp I got no signal. Do I need a special cable for that? I'm hoping I'm missing something because I would sure hate to have to return it. Thanks beforehand for any help. Regards, EJ. |

Try a 1/4" plug in (dummy or just not plugged into anything on the other end) that jack and see if it activates the preamp.
What year is your W597 I didn't know they came with VIP preamps

Location: chattanooga | I did plug one end of a guitar cable in and got a lot of hum when using the xlr input, although the 1/4" is on channel 1 and the xlr channel 2 if that matters. The guitar is a 2010 model.
