| It seems like all the talk lately is about older Adamas models, reissues, or anniversary type models. Has anyone bought a brand new standard issue (elite, legend, custom, balladeer, etc..) lately and what do you think of the sound, quality, etc.. when compared to older models? |

Location: Cicero, NY | I've played a couple of Ute's, which are relatively new, and I think they blow the socks off of a lot of other guitars I've played. In fact, I was going to steal JW's but he had the good sense to send it overseas before I could.
And it never came back either... ;) |

Short answer: I don't like the LX models because of their sound. But I think I am very alone on this board with this opinion.
Bought some of the Reissues as well - and they are fascinating. But that was not what you were asking.

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | An Old Solid Top would have reached full potential, after, say, 10 yrs. or better, Laminates on the other hand should not change much,..so, the question is legit (discounting Legends & Elites due to them having Solid Tops), How Good are the A`s compared to the veterans, or rather, how much better is the #47..??..

Location: East Tennessee | Since the market prices for good quality used Ovations is so good I think a lot of us just want a vintage instrument.
Compare the prices on ebay for a 1975 Martin and then a 1975 Ovation. The Ovations are way undervalued. |

The sleeper in the bunch as far as I'm concerned is the John Lennon. WOW, what a gresat sounding instrument.

Dave [/QB] Yes, agreed a hundred percent.
My Legend Ltd. RI sounded brilliant - right out of the box. One of the best wood tops I have - and one of the favorites at the EurOFC.
And since my Legend Ltd. RI is not one of the hundred JL3's, but a custom order with a LX neck - so to say a LX with A bracing - it's clear to see that it is the scalopped bracing that makes this sound I don't like.

Location: Tychy, Poland | i haven't played on many new Ovations, but thing i really didn't like is that newer models have much more "electro-acoustic" tone. Maybe my Legend, because of modifications, is unique, but my guitar sounds about the same plugged in and unplugged, and it's much more mellow and produces "wooden" sound. |
