Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Although I wasn't demonstratively taught the CAGE system for fretboard theory, it is what I used to memorize major and minor sevenths, sixths, ninths, and the oddball flat/sharp fifths and ninths. One day while I was practicing, the light just seemed to go on and I made a point of memorizing where CAGE applies everywhere up to the high G. Technically, my system is more like CAE or CGE since, to me, A and G represent essentially the same fingering pattern. |
