Location: Texas | Pardon me if this question has already been answered - I searched and did not see it. I saw that you have serial numbers listed by year up to 2001. I just got a used GC178LX Elite (apparently a Guitar Center Limited Edition model)and I am trying to figure out when it was made. In looking at serial numbers up to 2001, it looks like, on average, the numbers increased by about 9000 per year. Since the serial number on mine is 613465 that would suggest it was probably made in 2007 (assuming production levels stayed about the same). Do you know any other way to tell the date of a post 2001 USA Ovation? Thanks (by the way, I am enjoying the web site (and enjoying my new Ovation)!

I know this because I waited for them to make it at the Factory.
The serial number on it is 619356.
So your estimation of late 2007, is about right.
Unfortunately, you cannot find an exact date like by taking apart your old Tele...
After 2001, we all just guess by comparing the serial numbers on other guitars that we own. |

(i was kind of hoping it was 1965!) 7-digit serial numbers on Pac-rim Celebrities have no relation to the serial numbers for US-made models being discussed above. There's no way to find the manufacturing date for Celebrity models. |
