Joined: November 2006 Posts: 3969 | I got a new toy (M-Audio Fast-Track) to play around with this weekend. After a bit of software learning curve, here\'s my first stab at digital recording. Technical details: Song: cover of Before You Accuse Me as performed by EC on Unplugged Guitar: 1617 Legend Interface: M-Audio Fast-Tack USB Mixer: Reaper v.2.002 VST Plugins: Kjaerhus Audio Classic EQ; lame_mp3.dll for output as mp3 instead of WAV Critiques welcome (please be gentle :D ).

Nice job!! For suggestions - definitely purchase a condenser mic and you will see how nice Ovations can sound when they are heard as the ACOUSTIC guitars that they actually are. And maybe add a touch of hall reverb to the track (don't overdo it). But otherwise, it sounds very good indeed! Fun and addicting, isn't it??

I assume you DI'ed the guitar since you didn't mention any mics. I have said before but I will say again..."FOR THE MONEY, REAPER CANNOT BE BEAT!"

Joined: November 2006 Posts: 3969 | Thanks so much, folks. I've heard so may great clips from people here I was a little hesitant to put this up. rpguitar: Your praise is especially appreciated - recent posts of your clips finally inspired me to try my hand at this. I tried a little reverb with Kjaerhus Audio Classic reverb plugin, but decided against it this time so as not to overdo effects. Addicting? Too much so. I'm definitely going to shop for a mic. Any recommendations? ...purchase a condenser mic...maybe add a touch of hall reverb...Fun and addicting, isn't it?? stephent28: Yep - jacked to M-Audio input then USB to my laptop. Reaper was definitely the easiest to use of the several mixers I tried.I assume you DI'ed the guitar...
