Since then I've bought a Matrix (1980), and two Celebrities (CC057 and CC245). I just picked up a Standard Balladeer 1861 AX on eBay, so by puritan standards, I guess this is only my second "real, made in USA" Ovation. I'll be picking it up this week - can hardly wait! The "AX" in your model number means it was made somewhere across the Pacific. That does not mean it's a bad guitar... It's just that it's something you should know.

Is there a way to break the news gently that, Balladeers are no longer made in the USA? So I just waited for someone else to do it. But congratulations on the purchase anyway! So long as you are happy, everybody is happy.

I'd have bought this guitar even if I wasn't mistaken about its origin. Just moving on up the equipment ladder, trying to resist GAS!
