I am trying to figure out what model ovation I have. The only sticker of any kind I can find on it is the serial number. 373xxx, so it looks like this is a 1988 model. It is a shallow bowl (~3"), super shallow maybe.

The reason I am tracking it down is a little bushing popped off the tuner so I figure I would start with model identification first. So I think I am going to try to replace the tuners

Here is a link to a picture of the tuners and a picture of the guitar itself.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I have owned this guitar since around 1992, I purchased it from a friend in college. I am not sure how long he had it before college. So 1988 seems reasonable for its age, but reading some of the other pages it could be an import, so 1988 maybe off by a bit.

First, your photos...
The tuners are "Ping" tuners.

The guitar looks like a Celebrity CC257 or CS257.

On the left is a Celebrity CC257:

On the right is a Celebrity CS257:

I hope that this is helpful.

thank you. Looks like it is a CC257. The CS257 looks like it has different electronics. Mine has 1 box of electronics on the outside (3 sliders). The CS257 looks like it has 2 boxes on the outside (maybe one is a battery box). To change the battery on mine I open a round plate on the back of the guitar.

Does anyone know of the specs on the tuners? Is there a current tuner that would be a drop in for these tuners?

The one with two boxes at the preamp... One is the battery.

As to the tuner, they are PING, the same size as Grover.
Also others with the screw-hole at the six o'clock position.

If you would like, I can upgrade your membership so that you can post in other sections.
Only a few people can respond in the "Welcome Center".
Let me know.

Pings - just make sure the screw bracket placement is the same.
The back plate may end up saying Ping or Ovation depending.
