Any advice on pros and cons or experience of shipping a guitar overseas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

In the old days (I haven't checked lately) Russia was on list of countries that eBay recommended that you NOT ship stuff to. (Italy was on that list too, but I think that was for crappy mail service. Who knows?)

I have email contact with him often.... and I don't think that it would get trouble sending to Russia these days. Bernie

Any advice on pros and cons or experience of shipping a guitar overseas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. If you ship using the Feebay Global Shipping Program it works good but takes awhile to get to the buyer,it will give you what countries qualify for the program you ship it to Feebay and they take care of the international shipping, customs ,fees etc. If a country isn't in there list then you have to use USPS international and that can be a PITA just my humble opinion

Joined: May 2007 Posts: 66 Location: Milano, ITALY | I live in Milano and from 1984 to early 2Ks I bought more than 200 guitars (for me and some friends) from my good friend George Gruhn. All of them shipped by UPS or other carriers. I also bought another 100 guitars from different dealers. Never had a problem. Yes, we had a crappy mail service in the Seventies and early Eighties, but (1) I used UPS or Fedex and (2) the buyer pays in advance, so where's the problem? NB: The dealers who refused to ship to Italy for an obsolete prejudice lost my business and my money, their problem, not mine. My late advice, for future guitars: get a shipping quote from UPS, get the money from the buyer (member or not), ship the guitars and be happy. Edited by alberto 2017-06-14 3:13 PM

Not interested in any trades at this time, since I am trying to "thin the herd". Also, I am hesitant to ship outside of US, don't need the complications.
