Ovation has a new brand manager Thomas Mitchell. Ovation is in good hands with this gentleman and the company should be stronger than ever now with Thomas at the helms. I look forward to seeing what will be at the winter Namm Show from Ovation. It would be nice if Ovation went back to the signature logo that everyone is so familiar with on their products. I may present this suggestion the next time I talk with Mr. Mitchell. Who knows, maybe if enough people contact Ovation and request the original logo back on guitars, this could possibly happen.

I'm with Dan. I like the new logo. Changing it from time to time gives the guitars that are built under any particular logo an identity of family tree era from which they come.

Anything that smells of Fender should go.

@Beal - "Anything that smells of Fender should go."

Got me rolling on that one! I said something ugly in my earlier post about the over-under logo of Fender era, but deleted it to not offend anyone who may actually own one and like it. But, since Beal said it.. heck yes. I just feel bad now that I used the term "family tree".. but I guess we can look at them as the ne'er-do-well cousin every family seems to have.

No, I do not agree. I want DW products to have their own logo to differentiate from F****r crap.

Also... The stuff that was made in the Good-Ol'-Days can be recognized.

Bill Xavier is no longer with Ovation. Gee whiz sorry that I mentioned the original logo would be cool to have back on the guitars, example - like the limited edition Blue Birds that were at the summer Namm Show. Anyway I won't reveal why the change of brand manager, just that Thomas is the new person in charge now.

new product manager

I kinda figured that from the thread. Didn't take much in the way of detective skills.

I meant, who is he as in what are his qualifications for the job? motorcityrocker seems to know him. Please share what you know.....

I'd love it if the new Brand Manager, Thomas Mitchell, could sort out the Logo names on the different families of Guitars. For example, I think the Applause Guitars should say Applause on the Head Stock. And the Head Stock should be something different than the Ovation Head Stock. Same goes for the Celebrity models.

I've run across several guitarists that have told me they think Ovation's sound terrible. Then you find out they were playing an Applause...or a Celebrity model. So Mr. Mitchell, please get rid of the confusion.

uh... Like this?

Also... who cares what the weenies who don't like Ovations think?
Most people who bad mouth Ovations have never played an Ovation.
In nine years of playing guitar on the street I have never had someone tell me my Ovation sounded bad.
(they might have insulted MY playing but not the Guitar)
I have had Hundreds of people compliment my Ovations and speak fondly of Ovations that they had owned, even if they only owned a Celebrity or an Applause.

I do wish that Celebrity guitars said "Celebrity" on them like they did in the old daze.
But since MOST Ovations are made in Asia nowadays... That ship has sailed.
I don't think that it matters much anymore.

I kinda liked the hollow point headstock. Joel Dantzig and I designed that in an afternoon of back and forth on a fax machine. I like the applesauce one too. that other piece of **** needs to go.

Hmmm. I've owned and played a LOT of Peavey gear in my life, but it's hard for me to think of them as a cutting edge company these days... JMHO. Best of luck to Bill, though.

Bill was in charge of national sales at Ovation among other tasks. considering you can,t get a new Ovation in Canada or for that matter not too many other places (if any) other than the USA...makes me wonder is this why Bill no longer works for Ovation??? Thomas might want to focus on this area, or he might be polishing guitars at Peavey also!

Ovation is going to have to work hard on getting the public to be interested in this product again. I don't see any kind of buzz regarding this company. I thought there might have been a demand for the Campbell guitar after Glen went to heaven, but I am not seeing that happening. I wonder how long DW will keep Ovation, or sell it off to another company. I hope Ovation will have some new reissue guitars at the winter Namm Show. I really like Ovation guitars, but this new era of them has me a little apprehensive. Time will only tell.

I gotta ask... which is the "hollow point" one? I'm thinking is the one with the "notch" cause that would look like a hollowpoint bullet cut in half, but that seemed like a stretch.
