Hi All.
I have an older 1977 Ovation Legend Acoustic Model 1117-1, and when I recently got the guitar, the truss rod nut was loose, and the neck had a back bow.

I was able to lube the tr nut, and adjust the rod, and it worked.
Since then, I've had it under tension with med light strings, and during the time from when the first adjustment was made, every week, I've had to tighten the rod a little bit more, as the neck tries to go back where it was.

I've added an extra washer behind the tr nut to make sure that I'm not running out of threads.

I have a feeling that the anchor could be compressing some at the other end, I'm not sure.

Would any of you have a picture of one of these necks from around that era with the fingerboard removed showing where the anchor might be located?

Thanks in advance.
Wyatt

It seems to me either you've been adjusting the truss rod incorrectly or I'm completely misunderstanding the issue. Tightening the tension rod corrects a warped neck (up-bow); loosening it will will correct a bowed position (back-bow).

If your guitar has indeed got a bowed neck (as you said it does), you would have to loosen the truss rod with a counterclockwise rotation of the adjustment nut.

Yeah,
I meant up-bow, or fore bow.

I know how to adjust the neck properly.
I posted here to see if any Luthiers or guys here that have repaired, or have had the fingerboard off would have any pictures of the anchor location of the rod.

Thanks,
Wyatt

Wow. Thank you MWoody.

I take it that the one in the middle is a neck off a Balladeer 1111?

And the square that's above the joint is the metal anchor that's looks like its welded to the rod?

Many Thanks,

Wyatt
