The bone nut of my Legend L717 (1990) has come loose for some time now (it was only lightly attached before), and while it's overall not a massive problem, it's bothersome when changing strings all at the same time.

What kind of glue would you recommend for fixated the nut at the headstock again? Thanks.

A little dab of Elmer's would work just fine.

Yes. I used Elmer's carpenter glue and it's held for years. It's not bone, but I don't think that would make much difference. It doesn't take much to hold it.

Yeah, you don't want to use more than just a couple of drops of glue so that if/when it needs to be replaced in the future it can be popped loose with a gentle tap.

I thought of what Dan just said as soon as I hit "Submit". You don't want anything that will tear up the guitar if you need to replace the nut again.

Good point, I'll make sure to use it sparingly, just to fixate the nut a little in the middle.

It all went down well. I could also eliminate some sharp overtones on the high E string by slightly grazing the nut slot with a very fine needle, and I glued together a broken bar stool on the side as well. Gosh, I've always loved me some Titebond.
