I love the way you guys celebrate an imported Celtic pagan god-appeasing ritual and won't read Harry Potter cos it's the work of the devil.

I certainly don't - we've imported this over the last 10 years and tonight I came very close to grabbing several little devils by the throat and suggesting they try their trick threat.
Ridiculous ritual.
I can understand sacrificing a goat - at least you spill the blood on a patch of earth which will be fertile next season. And you get to eat the goat (very nice - muslims aren't totally stupid).

Halloween is for the LITTLE kids to dress up and get on a sugar high. (Forget the ancient religious connotations)

I had 3 Trick-or-Treaters tonight. It's just not the same as when I was a kid.

BTW... Harry Potter is being written by a very talented author(ess), not "da debil".

lol

Seriously, the wife's from Belarus (where they do not celebrate this)...and she lived in Vienna for 2 years where they celebrated the Fall/Harvest festival...then she cme here where it rivals the 4th of July as a national Holiday...she can't stand it...read the history on it and learn folks...I'll be glad to email it to you...

Well it's coming up on 7:30 and we've had a total of 5 spooky kids stop by divided across two groups. So basically two families were out.

Back in Maryland is was quite the opposite and although after the first 60 kids it got a bit tedious, I must say, I actually miss seeing the little kids in spooky little getups.

Even in other places, it was fun to decorate even if only a dozen or two gremlins showed up. Not really worth even breaking ot the fog machine now.

On the bright side... we don't buy any less candy just because there are no kids showing up :)

I had 2 kids, and one of them lives across the street.
Out here I believe they call them "crawdads".

In Poland we don't celebrate Halloween, it's a "Day of the Dead" on 1st nov when we go to our ancestors graves and we light the candles in their memory. It's a time of reflection for most of us, and there is not much celebration.
Btw. it'd sound silly if you'd wish someone "Happy Dead's day!"
