I have cherry red burst Ovation 4771 made in Korea. I cannot find out anything about this guitar and wondered if anyone on this board has any info. To my ears it plays very nicely and feels very good in my hands.

It has a serial number of 1040146 and has an Ovation 4771 label on the inside.

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. I have photos if anyone wants to see it.

Welcome to the board, Matt. It's a bit odd that your guitar's label says 4771 if it's Korean-made. 4771 is a US-made Balladeer model number. The serial number you quoted is definitely for a Koren Celebrity. Is it a cutaway? Pics would be nice, especially of the label. You can create a photo album (get to it from the Member Access link at top) and post pics there.

Others here know much more than I do, so maybe someone else can give you more info.

I have posted pics of the 4771 into a photo gallery. The gallery is called Matt Lewis.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Wow Matt - that's a new one on me. I had no idea they were making a Balladeer line in Korea. Nice looking guitar.

Most folks here prefer US-made O's since they generally are a bit better built and with a bit better materials than the lower end Celebrities, which are considered an entry-level mass market guitar. That's not to say Celebs are bad guitars, and some Celebs are the equal in tonal quality, playability and construction to some US O's. I own a Celeb and am quite happy with it. If you like the way your guitar plays and sounds, then all the better. Don't think we're snobs.

Your guitar is intriguing. Like I said, I thought the Balladeer line was strictly a US product. Anybody have more info on this one? When did anything but Celebs start smelling of kimchi?

It's got the OP24+ on it as well.

You mention that the 4771 was made in the US as well? Do you know where I can find info on the US spec of the 4771 please? I have looked through a lot of the catalogue's on web sites and cannot find reference to it anywhere.

Thanks again.

I said that thinking that all Balladeers were only made in the US. Now I'm thinking that these Korean Balladeers are made for non-USA markets. The only web sites I've seen with anything about the 4771 are European, and even then they don't have much info. I'm just as curious as you now; hope somebody else here can shed more light.
