Hello, I am looking at a local sale of a UK2 and before deciding whether or not to buy, I have been doing a bit of research on the variants.

It appears the earliest ones have either plastic or painted black metal on the bridge along with a weird screw in the back of the guitar. As best i can tell that is height adjustment, but does the bridge still have tilt adjustment to lower or raise each end of the bridge? (The one I am looking at has this type along with bowtie inlay)

Between the two distinct versions is one more desirable and are there any other differences between them other than the bridge and the inlay?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Hello Wyldwulf,
Actually that screw in the back is the angle adjustment. The two screws/studs the bridge sit on are the height adjustments. And the early bridge is brass with a black plastic cover. The newer bridge (chrome mostly) and it does not have an angle adjustment but rather is designed for the proper angle and you can just adjust the height. They are somewhat interchangeable, but the studs (height adjustment) screws are unique to each style. They fit the same flange in the guitar, but are different shaped studs.

Thanks for the speedy info, Mr. O. Apart from the bridge and inlay were there any other differences? It's also tricky as there are clear transitional pieces I have seen with the old bridge and block inlays- I assume the necks were just a swappable option?
