I was talking to Jay about the Glen Campbell 12 String, and decided that while I would Love that guitar, Jay would Cherish that guitar, so Jay got the Glen Campbell 12 string, shiny bowl Guitar from Nashville. It is exactly where it belongs now, and I wish Jay many happy years of enjoying that Special Guitar!

So now I get to do my Favorite thing again, and Hunt Down a 12'er for me!!! I am going to get something not quite so fancy, so I won't be afraid to touch it!

I need to start shopping for you guys, so I quit shopping for me! I could be a Guitar Concierge Shopper!!

Anyway, Patch - please expect the pictures from Jay, and if I find my own Grail, I promise to get pictures of it sent to you too! Although, I am thinking that my Red VXT would look cool in the Calendar! The Redder the Better you know!

Location: Utah		You could start a boutique used Ovation/Adamas shop with all you have and with your skills at finding new interesting old guitars.

Actually, good guitar shops could use people like you on their staff. Your enthusiasm would directly translate to sales when someone comes in looking for a guitar.

I could never sell my babies, but I would Love to work at a Guitar shop, as long as they only sold Ovations (and banjo's!) Although I have a feeling that would end up like me working in a Pet Shop, where everything would have to come home with me...

Yes...I do have it! It arrived today. It is beautiful! And in perfect condition. It truly looks as if it just left the factory. 

Nancy and I had conversed about it and she was kind and gracious enough to allow it to come my way. It is no secret as to my affinity for shiny bowls and it was Glen whom actually turned me on to Ovation...so this guitar is representative of quite a few diverging aspects that are meaningful to me...Glen's influence on Ovation, its' historic significance...one of the first GC 12 Ovation models offered, in mint condition...handmade and to bring it full circle, its owner had Glen sign it. 

 I cannot help but think that if Glen signed it before 2010, he actually knew the significance of this guitar when he saw it and played it. I am in high hopes that the owner will get in touch with me so I can learn its story.  

Thank you Nancy for allowing this beautiful instrument to come to Texas. Patch...I would love for it to be considered for the calendar, if it isn’t too late.

Location: When??		Nancy... I'm sure we all fully respect your decision on letting the Campbell 12er go to Jay. Sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do, and Jay's is a very fitting home... but please know that myself and a lot of others out here are hanging our heads in sadness as well that it won't be gracing the confines of the cave. In the meantime, I'll be on the lookout for anything interestingly 12 you may like to inspect.

Location: undisclosed		I actually like the guitars with less bling, the inlays soak up some of the vibrations, the carved bridges add mass to the vibrating membrane ( will that make it past the censors?). But they sure look nice! I really like my 77 1115 Pacemaker with the K&K pickups I installed I also cleaned up excess glue from inside and sanded the internal bracing and radiused the edges. There is a lot to be said for a good guitar you actually aren't afraid of devalueing by picking it up. The 12 string slothead really looks good on it and it's upscale brothers and the 12 fret neck keeps the stress down and the bridge in a full tone position. For you since you like the pretty stuff why not look at it's more upscale blinged versions? Of course then ther are the Elites, Adami....but start with one that feels friendly to play.

Don't be sad LoF, I am thrilled beyond belief!!! Jay knows and appreciates every nuance of that guitar and has been hunting for one forever! It would have looked nice in the Cave, but now it will played, and Cherished for the Historical piece that it is! Once everyone started saying what a museum piece it was, I would have been terrified to touch it, and it would have just hung there. Certain pieces belong to certain people, Destiny. I am So Thrilled that I got to be a small part in getting these two together!!!

And you are So Welcome Jay!!! Everything is right now, the way it was supposed to be!! I hope that you can uncover the story behind it, I would love to hear the history of it!!!

When my daughter Sara was in high school and into college, she and sometimes a friend would go to Guitar Center and hang out in the acoustic room. They had a mostly complete cross section of Ovations at that time, and the girls would sit and play for hours. Sara sold many guitars while hanging out there, almost always an Ovation. The sales employees knew little to nothing about any of the guitars there. Sara would start talking to the customer and pretty soon she'd be helping them decide which to take home.

Yes, she brought home a stray or two herself! Her collection exceeds mine. GAS runs in the family. Her younger brother collects violins, mandolins, and assorted oddball instruments.

Their eldest sister seems to be collecting children.

Location: Boise, Idaho		I used to sell and buy a lot of Ovations at Guitar Center, too. They knew me as the "Ovation Guy" and I used to think I'd like to get a part time job there when I retired. With all the changes, I quit going. I did get a good deal on my 12 string Balladeer before our relationship soured. I don't play the 12 string much and am satisfied with the one I have, but would gladly replace it if anyone wanted to make me a deal on one of the 12 string "Utes" that Al sold a few years ago.

Congratulations on yet another awesome addition to the cave!! You are going to have a lot of fun with this one, I can just tell. It's also gonna take your nightly star gazing adventures to a whole new level since I see that not only did you get the satellite model, but also the special 10th fret dish connection, which, as we all know, allows you to jam in real time with people on Mars and Jupiter. So very cool.

PS: Curious.. what is the neck width at the nut on that??

Neck width at the nut is 17/8"

I think she'll be in a state of rapture later this week when it gets to her

I went overboard last night buying an Adamas 1688-8 12 string and had to part with something to help pay the piper but that's for another thread I don't want to hijack Nancy's.

LOL!!!!! I sure hope so, I can't keep things straight in my own head any more!!
I am really Thrilled with this Beauty, and you are right, I can play this one on the deck, I would not be able to with the GC!
