No doubt very nice and unique.. but the "brand new- unplayed" part pretty much takes the edge off of its mystique for me. I would hope the purchase to at least include some photos or a DVD of it in action on stage/studio at some point. But, then again, the ad does say it was built for the Scorpions' acoustic shows.. so maybe it HAS been sparingly used by the band. The seller should be more clear on that part, especially at that price.

This one was offered on eBay before.... And it probably will be again, since I don't think someone's gonna buy it. And, well maybe it is true, but I cannot think of Rudolf or Matthias playing a Celebrity ?? They had lots of guitars especially made for them, so why not a signature double neck?! There was a black and white Flying V Scorps signed Gibson guitar available in numbers over here some years ago. Probably Rudi never played one of them himself.

Anyway.

But, as always, good luck to the seller!

BTW, I am with Damon. They were my favourite band in 1980, but sometime I lost interest.

My thoughts as well, maybe someone familiar with the Celebrity brand can explain what specifically is "custom" about this other than the fret label (which anyone could have glued on), but I'm pretty sure their first stop for a custom doubleneck would have been Hew Hartford.

I was confused.
My high school team was the Satellite Beach Scorpions, so for a moment there...

Then again, I wasn't even a fan of THOSE Scorpions.

...another signed Oavtion, again on eBay, this time a 5string bass, a bargain compared to the doubleneck, less than 10.000$.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ovation-Elite-5-string-elec-acoustic-bass-g...

At least that ones a rarer US made model,I don't get the price on the celebrity doubleneck and find it hard to believe the scorpions used it,now if it was a richie sambora doubleneck that would be a cool guitar to go after.

A Sambora triple neck would be even sweeter

Hi, 2 of these exist Worldwide, I just bought the one that was played by Matthias Jabs ( Scorpions ) from himself , or to be more precise from his self owned Guitar Store in Munich, Germany. (MJguitars)

So the one I have got was really played by himself.....The Guitar is quite nice, and there are no Signatures on it opposed to the one above.
And it was much much much very much cheaper!!!
To my believes the only difference to the stock model is the " Scorpions " Inlay on the 12th Fret, and the colour black.....and of course if there is a spread in quality ( which I dont know if there is any) I can be shure it's one of the good ones. Both Are built 2002.

I did not buy it because it is Scorpions, but because it is really great, especially since I prefer the Full Black colour over the "stock " ones....
Does anybody know from/ in what years those Korean Doeblenecks where built?

Greetings Tom

CSD/E 225 Celebrity Deluxe Doublenecks have been built since 2001, and according to the new Ovation website are still in the current lineup.

I have got a Guitar Test of a German Guitar Magazine called " Gitarre & Bass" which states in its Test of the Celebrity Doubleneck that " Ovation says that the Doubleneck Line is Not continiously built , but only every now and then they will be throwing a line on the " Street"...."
This statement is however from 2001. The Doubleneck Test was also done 2001.

But maybe they changed their mind......does anyone know for how much they are being sold now?
