Location: Connecticut | I just picked up a '73 1111-6 super cheap but in need of some TLC. The top has a couple of very repairable cracks and a lifting bridge. The finish over all is in bad shape.
It's supposed to be Pearlized White, but it's all yellowed and splotchy looking. Any suggestions on an suitable pearlescent white paint? I haven't had much luck internet searching and I'm considering buying an airbrush setup because I can find acrylic pearlescent white in airbrush paints. I've never actually seen another Ovation with a pearlized white finish in person, so I'm going into this a little blind.
Another point on paint. This Balladeer has what looks like the same textured bowl paint on the heel and headstock face, but not anywhere else on the black neck. I just thought that was kind of weird as I've not seen that before. |

Given the choice between an acrylic and a urethane or polyurethane, I'd go with the latter as they'll be more durable than acrylic.

Location: Connecticut | I honestly wouldn't have thought of automotive paint. I will definitely look in that direction! Another butt saved by the BFLG! Thanks Dan. |

Location: Connecticut | I'd be looking at about $550 for a paint job and rosette from the Mother Ship. That's better than 5X what I paid for the old girl. I'm going to give it a go with some rattle cans I think! |
