I have what I believe to be an Ovation 1868 elite that I bought from a private person on Ebay many years ago. I have recently started playing this instrument again. It still plays and sounds great. I am curious about its vintage i.e. when and where manufactured. I looked at the label and the label looks like the labels that I find on the web. The label says that it is an Ovation model 1868. Below the 1868 is the word ELITE. However, there is no serial number visible on the label nor can I find one on the guitar anywhere. I looked at other 1868 elites before I bought this one and it looks exactly as the others looked but at the time it never occurred to me to look for the serial number. The guitar has what appears to be an early OP 24 preamp.
