Then, in France there is a '87C for sale : reading the description , the seller says : "... that is part of the very first design as the most wanted from the 90 until 100 series , see the design has been changed . This one has pearls on the neck and body , and especially a flawless finish OVATION sound " . I have the No. 175 and it looks it the same ... do not you ? As far as they show, there was no difference. 1000 were built in natural finish, 100 in black, and there was a 12string as well. That's what I know.

Interesting, that they did this Collector model in so many variations. Regarding the overall numbers I don't know anything. Probably they did at least 1000 labels.... The highest number I have a photo of is close to 650... Who knows whether the 100 black ones were ever made? Label says at least 45...

It will give you the "Quantity Made" of each issue. According to that there were 820 Brown-ish 87C made and 108 Black.

It simply says the top is stained to look aged. Isn't the LTD also known as the Lennon, and has the same dark nutmeg top as the 1776 LTD? And there was never a sunburst 87C built. The only one in existance lives in Florida and was made a sunburst when the top was refinished. I've played that guitar. Stunning! Lastly, I probably own one of the most unique 87C's in that mine has an OP Pro installed in it. A great guitar even greater.......

Did you put in the preamp yourself? Good idea, best of both worlds and a solution when the old stuff causes trouble....

The presidential model, the -5, there were maybe 125? And then at the end we made some really figured bearclaw, maybe 30 or so. Those are the cool ones to get.

stunning pic... Mind the different coloured wood used for the epaulettes. And the inlaid dots are missing on the centre model...

Here's a link to its story with some more pictures.
