| Hey All,
I'm new to this forum but have been finding lots of great information about Ovation Guitars here.
I came across a used Ovation Standard Balladeer 6751 yesterday. It has a Sitka top in natural wood color. Have never really played an Ovation before and don't know much about them. Was looking at 12-strings in the sub-$800 price range and came across this one for $350 with a Roadrunner hardshell case. I really loved the feel and sound and wound up putting it on hold so I could think about it. I looked up the serial number and found out its from 2002. It is a Made in USA model. I'm no expert but it seemed to be in very good condition other than needing some new strings. It's also missing the battery cover but it sounds like I can get that part from Ovation.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on this guitar from those who might be familiar with the model and USA Ovations from this time period.
Is this is a good price? Does this model generally hold up well or need repair work often? Anything else I should know?
Any other info or thoughts on this model would be very much appreciated. I've never owned a 12-string and honestly just don't know much about Ovation although I'm finding from the brief research I've done that this model seems to be well-liked and reviewed.
Thanks in advance for any info you can offer.

I own the same model in black. I believe mine is a 2002. It is by far the best 12 string I have ever owned, in terms of both sound and playability. I have owned a Gibson B-25-12 (junk) a Guild D-25-12 (disappointing) and a Washburn. The Ovation blows them all away. I paid about $500.00 (withOHSC) three or four years ago and felt I got a good deal. I tune mine down a half step because I like the sound and playability.
Go for it! |

| Thanks so much ohiopicker. This is great to hear! I'm pretty sure I'm going back for it but I'm glad to hear your experiences, especially in comparison to those other models. And tuning down a half step is a good tip. |

Compared to my current Legend 6756 it was much heavier due to the Kaman bar in the neck, but the neck shape and playability were better than any other guitar I have owned, it was like butter. I think it also sounded better than the 6756 but I don't want to think about that otherwise I'd have regrets of letting it go. |
