Also listening now - had to get through about 5-6 minutes of commercials and promo at the beginning, but the interview is good - Bill is being pretty forthright and - without giving away the surprises - telling us a bit about what to expect.

Thanks - great link; great info!

Thank You for sharing Damon!

BillX, you sounded Great! The Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies were yesterday, eh??? PICTURES PLEASE!!!!
Everything sounded Great! I was glad that you stressed that DW was going for High Quality, and not competing in the Price wars that result in lower quality pieces!

I can't wait to see those 5 versions of the Anniversary Model!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoyed the interview. The host sure is a fan of Ovation. He should be a member here. That 21st century Viper might be interesting. As the biggest fans of Ovation, we should be working out our finances so we can support DW as they release these new special editions. I certainly plan on it.

Working on it!!!! It sure would give us a little extra *incentive* if we got a sneak peak at the new models!!! Hint! Hint!

Yeah, I'll probably have to buy a 50th Anniversary Ovation to go with my 50th Anniversary Corvette.

What I'd really like to buy is an LX-braced deep bowl, or contour bowl Custom Legend.

Thanks for posting this Damon67. Thoroughly enjoyed the interview over here in Japan. I just can't wait to see what the 50th Anniversary is going to look like. BillX said, "handful of limited run models!" Kinda sounds like the way they used to release Nakao stuff way back when...Even with small startup runs, I have a feeling O's comeback under DW ownership is going to WOW the guitar world!

I enjoyed the interview.
Couple things caught my ear.
USA models will not be for the bargain buyer but I'll wager they will still be attractive compared to comparable models.
Interesting that the imports are going to get a quality upgrade. .... we'll see.
Surprised to hear that solid bodies will be in the mix.
.
I just hope they will appeal to a whole new generation of ovation buyers because that's what it's gonna take.

Will be interesting to see how they price the 50th. By comparison (and I would consider Takamine and Ovation to be in roughly the same pricing range) the Takamine 50th anniversary guitar had a list of $10,000. It was a "must have" and one of the best sounding guitars I have ever played, but even at Al's retail price it was tough to sneak that one into the house.

Will they have a custom shop? I think noone except myself will be interested in a 12string 12fret LX custom legend contour bowl...I hope they will at least re-animate the brown cases! Or maybe (I know the 70ies are over) (too bad) grey ones? But please not black.

Great point. All of my students really like Ovations. I've never met a young guitar player that dislikes Ovations right from the start. They are usually brainwashed by wood box fanatics or turned off by a poorly assembled Asian model that drives them away instead of encouraging them to work up to a USA O.

I have a feeling DW will hit the right chord with enthusiasts as well as newcomers as they improve Asian quality and put USA Os in a class above. Not in direct response to the comment about Taks, but Takamine's are nice and they sound great, but they're MIJ (no offense as I am Japanese and the luthiers at Tak are incredible craftsmen). To us outside of the USA, there is still something majestic about owning a quality instrument made in the USA.

Sometimes I get the feeling Americans have less appreciation of that than those of us on the outside lookin' in?
