Location: Cork, Ireland | What to use to glue rubber to metal (nickel-plated brass l think) ? The pad (not the sleeve) of my shubb capo has fallen off. Once I get a suitable piece of rubber, what will hold it in place? The newer shubbs have little holes in the metal with little nubs on the pad but mine is just flat (will try and post a pic). Thought I'd just get a new cape but seems a shame for it to give up after only 25 years' service. |

Location: Pueblo West, CO | Are you asking what glue will hold a strip of rubber to the metal capo and not fail under use?
You could try this stuff.

You'll need to scuff the metal up really well to give the silicone a good surface to grab onto.
If this doesn't work, I'd just spend the $20 and buy a new capo. |

Location: Caribou, ME | You know those blister cards in every store? Back in the late 80s/early 90s I worked in a factory that made golf spikes. In addition, we packaged them for retail sale in those blister cards. I used to make the plywood molds to glue the blisters on, 6 at a time. The cards were coated with a heat release glue and where each blister was located on the board, I had to glue strips of mouse pad-ish rubber to serve as cushioning. The ONLY thing I found that would work is silicone adhesive. Not sealer.....adhesive. I think that stuff will glue anything to anything. Below is a crappy photo of the hand-packaging process as done in 1987 (my late wife on the right):
