Thanks, been trying to follow this in honor of Glen, even though it's a sad story. God bless him and his family.

Wonder why they moved him home as he gets worse? Wonder if it's a money issue?

Wonder if it's a money issue?

Doubt it.

Kim has taken a lot of heat for the family's decision to place Glen in a care facility. She has also been taken to court (what I understand) for issues surrounding access to glen by other family members. It has been an issue that has caused a lot of family issues to be aired in public, not to mention the rumblings from the cheap seats.

It just may be that Glen doesnt have much time left and she wants him home.

Whatever it is, it is probably none of our business. Moreover, it is very sad.

My Mom did that for Grandma. She was happier there. For us, it was that simple. We wanted her where she was most comfortable for her last days.

She always knew who I was when I'd come over. I'm sure every bit of recognition was a bright spot for her. There's not much you can recognize in a managed facility.

Definitely not a money issue!! Jay has summed up some of the issues very well but who knows what is really going on there?? That being said if someone is giving you a black eye then he is definitely a management issue! I spent years caring for Alzheimers patients and it is really beyond a challenge to care for them at home once they reach the advanced stages. Which is why most of them end up in institutions.

That's kinda what I was getting at. It's REALLY tough home-caring for an AZ patient in the late stages. Maybe with full time care coming in to help out....

Maybe the plan is to have him home but have full time help. I know money probably isn't a concern but having a nurse(?) there 24/7 would likely be less expensive than "Rose Acres".

I am in a similar place with my 90 year old parents. They only thing they want in life nowadays is to stay in their own home where familiarity gives them comfort and security.

They are all different. My mom hasn't progressed through the first of the 7 phases, so we have some doubts she really has Alzheimer's. They sold the house and moved into an independent living apartment and she didn't like leaving their home, but now the new place is home and she has difficulty being anywhere else. It really takes a full time caregiver and it may be best for Kim or family to be with Glen all the time. At least he still recognizes them, which will give him some comfort.

My understanding is that Kim had full time professional help prior to seeking a private facility. He just became unpredictable and engaged in some unsafe activities, they felt. Obviously something has changed, for them to bring him home. I have no doubt they are still able to afford the best care for him and are doing so. Glen is a pretty big guy, so I am sure when he wants his way, it could get ugly pretty fast.

We had a FT caregiver as well. The big difference being that grandma wasn't very mobile. Glen looks like he can still wrestle a bear.

Yes there could be a bit of a difference between dealing with a mad grandma and a mad Glen.

It's family business and none of ours. The elimination of a private life is only one of the downsides of the Internet.

But famous people have always suffered from a lack of privacy even before the internet! And we are all rightly concerned about the fate of one of our true musical heroes!! But I do respect your respect for their privacy!

Phil, this is part of what was already started. The Campbell's decided to make the ordeal public and for a purpose, so the rest of the world could see the good bad and ugly of the situation. I'm not sure if they want all of this family squabble biz out there, but they made the decision to go public, and the disease doesn't stop with the closing credits on the movie.

Exactly. When the family submits press releases, posts videos, and does interviews with reporters detailing Glen's struggles with the disease, it's a bit hard to respect their privacy.
