Is that steep or reasonable in y'all's opinion? Who has one of these and loves it? Anything special about these (bracing, etc.)? Also, I don't think the seller has the year even close, but I don't know when these were made. Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-LEFTY-Vintage-OVATION-1157-7-ANNIVERSA... ![]()

Just a note on this one, and you may not care, but it appears to have a crack in each upper quadrant near the neck. A couple of dings on the bottom. Someone else may chime in about bracing and how the neck/frets looks. I paid under $800 for mine, and have seen them as low as $450, but this one is a Lefty too... ![]() Edited by Nancy 2015-08-11 5:01 PM (Lefty Anniversary.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

As for my impressions on the model, it's an A-Braced, pre Kaman bar Legend, so it's one of the best sounding O's built IMO. The bling sets it apart from all other Os. It's not flashy, but it's stand-out When I was out of work for a bit, I had to decide which deep bowl non-cutaway Legend I was gonna keep. I kept my Anniversary.

You just answered one of my main questions... so it's A-braced, which I've only heard good things about... and I agree, those don't look like cracks... ...you're not helping my GAS... Also, looks like there's no pickup? Not a problem for me - I'd add one if I decided I wanted to play it out. Edited by 360Ovation 2015-08-12 11:44 AM

If you are willing to pay the 750 minimum bid then wait for last second before the ad expires and bid that. Or send the seller an email with your maximum offer (if less than 750) and maybe he will post it at that lower bidding price if it does not sell. But Damon's sure looks sweet, that TRC is the best.

This! even though mine has a bit of a "wow" in the neck at the 12th fret, she still sings and plays as nice as any of my other O's. Great profile to the neck and nice top wood, the binding, layered headstock and heel plate and carved acoutrements make this one a keeper. Plus, I believe the second digit 1157 means acoustic only. Nice get. Edited by AstroDan 2015-08-13 11:40 AM

Thanks for that info - learn more all the time. Well, I jumped, it's mine! (I was the only bidder...) Probably won't arrive till the end of next week (of course, I'm out of town next Thursday - just like I ranted in my other post here)! Hopefully I can have it delivered next Friday so I have it for the weekend. I'll keep you all posted - thanks for the helpful info - and the "encouragement" ... I think! Assuming that girl's in good working order, I think you made an excellent choice. Congrats! You'll need to share your thoughts when she gets there (and some pictures)

You'll need to share your thoughts when she gets there (and some pictures) Yes - will share thoughts and pics. And yes, "assuming that girl's in good working order" - that's the only concern I have. You can't tell from the photos - the neck 'looks' fine, no pics of the frets, but this is a 30+ year old guitar. So fingers crossed on that. I was reading another thread about older O's with glued in necks, making neck repairs difficult (the "bowl bend" solution...). However, won't cross that bridge till we come to it. Anyone ever added a pickup to one of these? (My biggest fear would be having the tech crack the bowl when drilling a hole for the jack...) But that's also another discussion for later.

That's a BIG deal for a die-hard Larrivee owner I've known for 35 years. But he's left-handed, so anything could happen. Great to see you hear, Mike!

Thanks, Paul...as I recall, my being left-handed also occasionally gets me labeled as having a birth defect (or being brain damaged, or some such thing...). ![]() No matter - I'm really enjoying both of these O's (L717 and the 1157-7); wondering if the new Ovation owners will throw us lefties some bones...
