Location: SW Mintsoda | Tomorrow I'll officially be in the Ovation camp again...a '92 (according to ser. #) lefty Legend L717 will land on my doorstep! Guitar looks to be in great shape, according to seller (American Music Seattle) it is in excellent shape. My main concern is the neck/action - always hard/impossible to tell from pics.
It has the OP24 preamp (large vol. knob, 3 slider eq, battery button). Anything I should know about the preamp, or the guitar? How do you change the battery? Unscrew the whole preamp?
Any other quirks about these?
Also, is a lefty L717 basically a Legend 1717?
Also, can I post pics directly from my computer, or do they need to be on a hosting site?
Thanks! |

Location: Boise, Idaho | There should be either a separate battery door or the slotted head of a bolt on the side of the guitar. If it's the latter, you have to loosen the strings and stick your hand in there and you'll feel the battery holder. Turning the screw 1 quarter turn will let the battery case drop off. You'll figure it out.
You need to post the pics from a hosting site, but you can put them in an album here and then post them here. I can't seem to get it right, but you can. |

I assume the screw in the pic below is the one you're referring to?
Only major blem on the guitar seems to be on the lower bout by the bottom there:
Almost no scratches on rosette ring or near sound hole:
