Location: Ft Collins, CO | Alright, awhile back I walked into one of those “play it again” places and stumbled onto a guitar that “I absolutely had to have!”. It was an ’82 Ovation 1627 Glen Campbell model in pretty good shape. I traded an Ovation of questionable pedigree and a travel guitar for it. There was one stacked knob under the armpit for tone (lower) and volume (upper). The lower portion was broken but I was able to find an authentic replacement. All in all a really good guitar and currently my favorite 6-string axe. It’s also the guitar that most likely re-ignited my Ovation fetish. It didn’t have a case but I already had one of those hard gig bags that Ovation makes. The case has a jacked up zipper though that I think will eventually wear out. It does work alright for now.
I recently purchased another Ovation. A 1112 Custom Balladeer (with an aftermarket pick-up that neither the seller nor myself knew about . . . so BONUS). It came with the original 1975 brownish hard case and I REALLY, Really, really like that case (the bowl on the Glen Campbell fits but the case doesn’t have a cut-out to accommodate the knob and I’m afraid I may re-break it).
So what I want is a hard case, preferably (but not mandatory) with a prominent “OVATION” logo, that can accommodate this Glen Campbell guitar with its “armpit” knob and “Artist Bowl” depth. Buckles NOT zippers. I don’t want to have to sell a kidney for it either. $100 or so. Any ideas??? Googled and found some info (a couple cases) but thought one of you folks may have “special insight” or experiences with Ovation storage. This guitar is a keeper. My “estate” will eventually have to sell it (If I’m not cremated with it).

Location: Sydney, Australia | Somewhere in the archives there is a solution to this. If I recall it was to bash the inside of the case in just the right spot to make the indentation you need. |

Location: Pueblo West, CO | I used an Xacto knife to cut an indentation in my $60 shallow bowl case so my 1624 with 'armpit' volume/tone knobs would fit. It's ugly, but then who cares what the inside of a case looks like, right?

That's almost like hitting it with a hammer. I wasn't too far out.
