| Hi all, I've returned after many years away.
My life and family situation have took many strange turns but I'm in a better
place than I have been in years.
My "dream" guitar as a teen was an Ovation 12 string and now I'm in a position
where I can finally afford one.
But I'm not rolling in cash, and I see that Ovations fortunes have also been somewhat turbulent.
So, assuming I can't afford Adamas, how good is the Elite 2758AX-NEB? (I'm guessing Korea not US made?)
I don't have any problem with it being non-US, but I do want to make sure the quality is good.
Some random info, I'm in the UK, I'd like to play in standard tuning or 1/2 a step down at the most,
maybe some light "live" use, but definately some home recording.
I'm not under any time pressure to buy, but guitars are always cheaper now, than in the future! |

Location: Texas | If you can find a 2058T, that's the one to have, imo. There was one for sale recently and I didn't get to it fast enough. It is not the same guitar as the TX or AX lookalikes. Hopefully others will chime in with some alternatives that might be more available on the secondary market. |

Location: Sydney, Australia | 12 strings are finicky. With all that extra tension (sort of like my first marriage) you need to make sure the guitar is really well set up. If that is all you can afford, then get an Asian made one, but make sure it is one you can try before you buy. If the set up is good when you get it, it will probably hold up. If not, you might never be able to achieve that.
I'd get a second hand US made one in preference to a new Asian made one. I have a second hand Adamas 12 string (which has had a hard life) - I sold a 12 string Celebrity (could never get the action right) to part fund it, and spent about $300 getting a re-fret, fretboard leveled and neck re-set.
The good news in the second hand market, is that a lot of people buy 12 strings, then never play them. Hence, while they are fairly rare, it is generally a buyers market.

| I picked up very nice 1755 12-String Custom Balladeer a few years ago. The neck is substantial and it holds pitch at full A-440 pitch no problem. It's also quite easy to play for a 12 string and sounds beautiful. I think I remember paying about 500 to 600 bucks for it from Sam Ash.

Location: Western Sonoma County | My 1974 vintage Pacemaker 1115-4 is still perfect. Straight neck, easy to play, tuned to 440, etc etc. A joy to play. There are a couple vintage 12-strings on eBay right now, and in my area (SF) Craigs has a few as well -- all US made for reasonable prices. |

| Cheers for the replies. I've lost touch with where Ovation is exactly at. I've had a couple over the years
a Celebrity, and a '93 Collectors.
Are these new Elites not as good as the old ones? I saw that the prices seemed cheap but I assumed it was because a case wasn't included? |
