I now have my very own VXT! All I have to do now is figure out how to use it.

How do I find out what year it was made?  I couldn't find this series of serial numbers in the list of serial numbers or the FAQs.

I am not positive but I believe that was made in 2007...
because of the "7" at the beginning of the serial number.
I also believe that they were only made in 2007... I could be wrong.
But that is about when Fender got a-hold on Ovation.
And it was all downhill after that.

Nice guitar!
Now I miss mine... But I know where it is at.

Nice snag. I couldn't resist either.

Nice! Where did you snag that one from, Richard? (Or was that the one that Muzz had?)

It was the one Muzz had (which was AJ's).

Thanks OMA. You're such a great source of knowledge, and someone who's always willing to share.

Mine was made in 2008

I think they were built till early 2009 (somebody told me). Beal??

Love mine!!! It has got a little "customization": Schaller tuners with 16:1 ratio and custom made rosewood-buttons with real MOP, rosewood Pup- frames and rosewood knobs.

OMA, I'll try to give yours some love this week and maybe bring it to Portland (mostly Hillsboro) this weekend. They made the black ones first, then the sunburst and a few red ones (wish I'd have bought Woody's), then they started with what looked like textured tops. I only saw ads for those, but I've never seen one in person.

Congrats on the new axe banjo.

Weren't these made in the Hamer facilities? When did they close up Hamer? I wouldn't imagine any were made after.

BTW, my VXT (formerly OMA's) was made in 2007. I think it's 0220.

Thanks everyone. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Nest step is to try a few different types of strings.

Try DR Zebra strings. They are a decent compromise between acoustic and electric strings. I have them on my Deacon which has piezo saddles and an active preamp on board.

Thanks.

It may have come with DR strings. They are purple or blue. But I'm guessing.

Mine is No. 7 818. It was one of the first custom VXTs made. About the same time as Beal's. These were made on the main floor of Ovation as we observed on one of the OFC tours. While the Hamer artisans may have had some influence over the production quality control of the VXT, it was assembled ny Ovation craftsmen.
